Purdue University is a major public research university in West Lafayette, Indiana, internationally recognized for its engineering, computer science, and aviation programs. Known as the "Cradle of Astronauts" for having graduated more astronauts than any public university except the service academies, Purdue combines a massive, resource-rich STEM research enterprise with strong programs in agriculture, business, and the sciences. The university's large College of Engineering is consistently ranked among the very best in the country, and Purdue's undergraduate research opportunities are unusually accessible given its scale. Boilermaker school spirit runs deep, anchored by Big Ten athletics and a close-knit small-town campus culture in West Lafayette, giving students both major-university resources and a strong sense of community.

Since 6th grade, the Purdue Online Writing Lab (OWL) was the first link on my browser’s lengthy bookmark bar, reigning supreme over github.com and even Google.com. The guide that supported me through 5 years of National History Day website bibliographies and twenty iterations of my stubby resume that somehow got me my first internship, the Purdue OWL, represents the support I will receive during my time in university and the services I will provide when I begin my future career in educational technology. Purdue OWL represents that innovative technology isn’t only for the privileged few. Innovation must serve those who need the best the world can offer. Throughout high school, I pursued my passion for financial education technology by developing an AI-assisted tax-prep and financial management app called [Organization Redacted]. Studying computer science at Purdue through the ML and AI track will build my foundation in assistive online education tools that can adapt to the needs of individuals who cannot afford expensive financial advising services. Through the Purdue Innovates Incubator, I’ll develop the foundation for revolutionary education software in the spirit of the Purdue OWL. Through the support of its Ventures, I’ll aim to extend past the walls of my community at home, my community at Purdue, and reach anyone hoping to achieve financial stability. With the opportunities at Purdue, I’ll be supported through my mission of programming ubiquitous and accessible software that any individual can reach for in hopes of changing their reality.
