Computer science captivates me with its boundless potential to change the world. My journey began in elementary school with a simple “Hello World” on Scratch, where making a sprite move felt like magic. Since then, languages like HTML, Python, Java, and SQL have unlocked new creative possibilities for me. As I delve deeper, I am particularly drawn to artificial intelligence and its transformative potential across numerous industries. Its implications, especially in the field of algorithmic justice, fascinate me, as it is a unique intersection of computer science and public policy. Algorithmic justice revolves around human virtues such as fairness and equity, focusing on the long-term impacts of decisions. The development of AI models that replicate these ethical considerations in areas like resource distribution, criminal justice, and economic policy is a topic that intrigues me. Georgia Tech offers several courses, labs, and other resources distinctly tailored to this passion, and is the ideal institute for me to pursue my interests. The Student Innovation Program at Georgia Tech is particularly appealing, as it empowers students to make a meaningful impact in their community while developing their own skills. The Algorithmic Justice League stands out to me as it aligns with my vision of promoting ethical AI development and accountability. The Everyday Computing Lab’s focus on Data Ethics and the Cognitive Empowerment Program resonates deeply with my goals. I aspire to contribute to their inspiring work. At Georgia Tech, I will find a community where my peers and I motivate each other to achieve our ambitions and drive change. By pursuing an education in computer science there, I will deepen my knowledge and use it to uplift the community around me and make a lasting impact in the world.
