Lover of nature and musical chameleon @Yale!
I applied to more than 10 colleges and most of them were conservatories. I ultimately decided to go to Yale, the one university without a conservatory that I applied to, because it had the best music/academics balance. Hope you enjoy!

Personal Statement
The lessons we take from obstacles we encounter can be fundamental to later success. Recount a time when you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
I spied the wave first, a distant hump on the horizon. Furiously paddling past the other unsuspecting surfers to position myself for the takeoff, I realized this wave was intimidatingly huge. And it w

Why do these areas appeal to you?
I am fascinated by how we communicate. When I was young, my mom would play a ditty on the piano to signal that it was time to leave for school. After this early introduction to sound and intention, I

Why NYU An NYU education will make me well-rounded, both as a musician and a student. As a pianist, I value traditional conservatory training, but I also view it as a launching pad to innovate. After witnessing masterclasses with teachers such as Eteri Andjaparidze and Marilyn Nonken, I am convinced that the piano faculty would help develop my technique and musicality so that I could stand alone as a classical pianist. Aside from the top-level faculty, what sets NYU’s education apart for me is the versatility it can give me. While my focus has always been classical piano, I am exploring other areas of the music field, including jazz, composition, and vocal accompaniment. NYU would support all these areas, in addition to the program being flexible enough to accommodate further exploration. I will also learn how to thrive in the music world; I can become a business-savvy artist by taking electives in the Music Industry program, and familiarize myself with the basics of sound recording and music production in the Music Technology department.
I would take advantage of the wide range of opportunities that result from NYU’s integration with NYC. I will be able to find a place within the many ensembles and countless student groups dedicated t

The University of Miami's official mascot is the ibis. Folklore maintains that the native marsh bird is the last to take shelter before a hurricane hits and the first to emerge once the storm passes, making it an apt symbol of courage and resilience. Considering your ability to control your own motivation and behavior, how have past experiences helped build your courage and resilience to persist in the face of academic and life challenges so that, once these storms pass, you can emerge in continued pursuit of your goals?
