I didn't get into any of my reach schools that I applied for through common app, but I did get into MIT. Fun fact, I spent exactly 2 hours on all of my essays for MIT, since I really didn't think I would get in and I just wanted my mom to get off my case about applying haha. Passion is the most important thing, and if you have evidence that you are passionate about a subject, and you make it shine through in your essays, you'll do great. That was the difference between my MIT application and my Common App.
