Incoming Freshman @ Brown PLME BS/MD (Program in Liberal Medical Education) studying Biochemistry & Public Health
I applied to 15 schools total (including several BS/MD programs) and would not suggest applying to more schools than that. I started my essays early in the summer after 11th grade, but I was still writing supplements well into winter break. Don't be afraid to experiment with your essays - I ended up rewriting my Common App essay 2 days before the regular app deadline. I already had all my essays done by then so I thought why not just see how this new essay turns out; I ended up liking it a lot more than my old one and took a risk by submitting it to all my regular schools. While I don't recommend you do the same thing I did, try to convey honest and authentic stories when you begin writing. And you don't have to use fancy words or complex grammar, just write how you would speak - like I'm doing right now.
