I'm from Sacramento, California and I decided that I didn't want to go to school out of state. I applied to 4 state schools, 7 UCs, and one Ivy — Stanford University. Stanford University was truly a shot in the dark for me, but it is a testament to the fact that if you have the resources, the time, and the motivation, you should apply to somewhere even if you don't think you'll get in.
